NYS Next Generation Roadmap Spotlight - January 2019
Welcome to the first edition of the NYS Next Generation Roadmap Spotlight! Educators, administrators, and leaders across New York State are sharing their journey towards implementation of the Next Generation English Language Arts and Mathematics Learning Standards. The Roadmap Spotlight was created to encourage district-to-district support and collaboration across our state, enabling educators, administrators, and leaders to benefit from the collective knowledge and experiences of colleagues.
In our premiere edition, you will read about:
- Greece Central School District and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES’ collaboration to find time to raise awareness of the new standards in Raising Awareness May Take Time, but it’s Time Worth Taking;
- the connection Herricks UFSD made between their values and the Lifelong Practices of Readers and Writers in The Senior Exit Portfolio: Measuring the Lifelong Practices through Student Reflection; and
- how Hudson Falls Central School District utilized its teacher leadership structure and instructional coaching support to rollout the Next Generation Standards in Utilizing Teacher Leadership and Instructional Coaching to Support Next Generation Standards Rollout.
It is our hope that these journeys support a multitude of districts as we move forward with the suggested activities outlined in the Next Generation Learning Standards Roadmap.
