“It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the loss of James Tallon, former Member of the Board of Regents and New York State Assembly Majority Leader. Former Regent Tallon was a dedicated public servant who served the Board and the people of New York with integrity and commitment. Throughout his 15 years of service to the Board of Regents and across his distinguished career, he was a champion for the Department and a supremely effective leader in ensuring equitable funding for education. His legacy is marked by his service to fellow New Yorkers and tireless advocacy for our state’s most vulnerable and underrepresented populations.
