Statement from NYS Board of Regents Chancellor Merryl H. Tisch and NYS Education Commissioner King on NYC Principal and Teacher Evaluations

"Hopefully, Governor Cuomo's leadership will push New York City and its bargaining units to reach an agreement.  But if they can't meet their responsibility, we stand ready to move forward to meet the parameters the Governor has laid out.

"Evaluations are a vital component of the Board of Regents' reforms.  The goal of the new evaluation system is to help all teachers and principals grow and develop so that their students will be better prepared for college and careers.  The city's students have already lost a year.  Governor Cuomo's legislation will help make sure they don't lose another."
