The Office of College and University Evaluation (OCUE) provides regulatory oversight of public, private, and proprietary degree-granting institutions in New York State and the programs of study offered by those institutions. Additionally, OCUE is the custodian of transcripts for several closed colleges.
OCUE is looking for a summer intern to assist with the following duties:
1. Update and reorganize information on OCUE website: This will involve doing research to confirm information is correct, organizing information, and updating the website.
2. Data cleanup: This will involve requesting college charters from the Regents Office, analyzing the charters, and comparing them to information stored in our systems. Intern may also compare data in different NYSED systems to ensure consistency.
3. Records management: This will involve documenting and organizing records from closed colleges in the possession of the New York State Education Department.
Intern will gain experience and training with:
-Professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
-Use of Microsoft Office suite in a professional environment
-Website management at a government agency
Intern will also have the opportunity to learn about:
-Structure of the New York State Education Department
-Regulation of degree-granting institutions in New York State
-Closure of degree-granting institutions
Strong communication skills (writing, speaking), computer literacy, experience with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel), strong interest in public administration and/or higher education administration, completed junior year (or higher) of a bachelor's program, open to all majors
20-29 hours per week to be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Must be available Mondays and Thursdays. Other days are flexible.
Undergraduate students will be paid $15.50/hour and graduate students will be paid $18.50/hour. For all offices located in NYC or Westchester, Suffolk, or Nassau Counties, undergraduate students will be paid $16.50/hour and graduate students will be paid $19.50/hour
