Work-Based Learning Coordinator Extension FAQ

At the April 18, 2023 Board of Regents meeting, the board approved changes to the structure of New York’s work-based learning extensions. The new regulations replaced the two prior extensions (Coordinator of Work-Based Learning Programs for Career Awareness and Career Development) with a single extension: Coordinator of Work-Based Learning Programs. The requirements for the Coordinator of Work-Based Learning Programs will require completion of the same six credits that are currently required, certification in a 7-12, all grades, or 5-9 content area, and documentation of at least 300 hours of non-teaching work experience. The extensions will be updated in TEACH at some point next week. Additional information can be found on the Regents Item as well as the attached frequently asked questions document.
