Statement From Board of Regents Chancellor Betty A. Rosa and State Education Department Interim Commissioner Shannon Tahoe on the Enacted State Budget

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed New York State in the midst of an unprecedented public health and economic crisis. Throughout this situation, we have seen the pivotal role that schools play in communities across the state. The Board of Regents and the Department will do everything in our power to ease the uncertainty that this budget will place on New York’s students, parents, teachers, administrators and school communities. While we recognize the need for sacrifices and tough decision making, it is of critical importance, now more than ever, that the needs of our students are met, and we will continue to fight at all levels of government for increased funding for our schools.
