Statement From SED Commissioner John B. King, Jr. On SED’s Successful Application For The Community Eligiblity Option Child Nutrition Program

"The State Education Department's (SED) application for implementation of the Community Eligibility Option child nutrition program is one of four chosen by the United States Department of Agriculture.  That’s great news for students, schools, and families. This program may universally provide breakfast and lunch to children in high-poverty schools.  When school starts up in September, more students can get the healthy meals they need. The approval of SED’s application is another step toward making sure all our students have the nutrition they need to succeed in the classroom."
