State Agency Performance Improvement Summer Internship

Program Office/Description: 

The Chief Financial Officer sets internal policies regarding the use of resources in the agency, represents the Department in external conversations that involve a need for resources, develops the annual budget requests to the Governor and legislature and implements the Enacted budge. The CFO supports a variety of projects across the agency.  

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

The intern will provide project support assistance and understand the scope of the CFO. Some of the projects intend to increase the agency's performance capacity. Others involve implementation of new programmatic or IT initiatives. The intern will perform specific support tasks to this work, and they will get broad exposure to the work of a multi faceted state agency.

Professional Development Plan : 

The CFO will provide ample informal training in systems, processes and policy contexts in order to make this as valuable an experience for the intern as her internship was for her-her first job with the Department was as an Intern.

Desired Skills, Abilities, & Educational Background: 

The candidate should possess good quantitative, writing and research skills, since the tasks will vary depending on the outcomes of the state's legislative session. 

Schedule/Hours: 

Maximum of 29 hours per week, on a regular schedule to be agreed between the successful candidate and the manager.
