The Office of Information and Reporting Services writes and/or updates system support documentation for existing and development systems. Deliverable would result in a comprehensive electronic document, business requirement specifications and contributions in developed code to be used in production releases.
Interns will document system operations for maintenance and user guides for their assigned systems, including:
- Business requirements and change requests
- Assisting with developing specification for programming code
- Participating in the project life cycle leading up to production releases
Throughout the summer, interns will:
- Work in an ITS team environment
- Gain exposure to the requirements gathering process
- Learn how to create code specifications for code development
- Learn testing procedures for the code
- Learn the difference between system and user documentation
- Get approval for production releases
Candidates must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Computer Science--focus on programming is a plus. Candidates should also have completed or be taking courses in JAVA, C++, C#, JS technologies, PL/SQL, PHP, and be familiar with Querying Databases.
Preferred work days are Monday through Thursday between 8a-4p. Interns will work no more than 25 hours per week. Specific hours and schedules will be coordinated with the intern's assigned mentor.
